Pulaski County Master Gardeners are hosting a Core Course Master Gardener training this fall (classes are held on Thursdays with Field Trips on Saturdays), as follows: *Registration will be open through August 29, 2014, $25 deposit with all fees due by August 29th A. The course fee is $145, which includes all classes, handouts and other materials, and a certificate upon completion of the course. B. Auditing Class is open to the general public: $15.00 per class PULASKI COUNTY MASTER GARDENER TRAINING - FALL 2014 1) September 4th from 6-9 PM: Orientation Meeting & Dinner@) 2) September 11th from 6-9:30 PM: Plants & Their Environment 3) September 18th from 6-9:30 PM: Lawn & Turf 4) Saturday, September 20th Field Trip: Botanical Center & Demo Gardens Tour & Fruit Production (Springfield, Greene County) 5) September 25th from 6-9:30 PM: Insects 6) October 2nd from 6-9:30 PM: Vegetable Production 7) Saturday, October 4th Field Trip: Herbaceous Ornamentals & Residential Landscape (Camdenton) 8) October 9th from 6-9:30 PM: Improving Landscape Soils and Nutrition 9) October 16th from 6-9:30 PM: Pruning 10) Saturday, Oct. 18th from 9 AM-Noon: Propagation 11) October 23rd from 6-9:30 PM: Plant Diseases in the Garden 12) October 30th from 6-9:30 PM: Woody Ornamentals 13) November 6th from 6-9:30 PM: Composting 101 14) November 13th from 6-9:45 PM: Safe Application of Pesticides & GRADUATION All Thursday night classes will be held Waynesville at a location to be announced. All classes will be taught by University professors, Extension specialists, and experienced Master Gardeners from around the state. The course fee is $145, which includes all classes, handouts and other materials, and a certificate upon completion of the course. Participants who complete a volunteer hour requirement will receive official Master Gardener name tags. On an hourly basis, that amounts to less than $3 per hour of class time! The Master Gardener Core Manual notebook is available for purchase for an additional $30; alternatively, all Core Manual materials are available online at no charge. The registration period will be open through August 29, 2014. Registrations will be taken on a first come basis. Registrations may be submitted now with a $25 deposit with all fees due by August 29th. There will also be the option for members of the general public to audit individual classes of interest. The fee for auditing any class day is $15.00. In the year after completing the Core Course, Master Gardener trainees must volunteer at least thirty hours in approved Extension horticultural projects. The annual service requirement after that is twenty hours per year. The Master Gardener program is active in most states and a relocating Missouri Master Gardener may have the opportunity to join a similar group in another state.
