*Purge* I have never felt more ambivalent about the nature of religion, God, Christianity, more specifically, and its role in the world...whether its influence has been mostly positive or negative, is not so simple...but I can agree with honesty and humility that (although not always) religious ideologies have been at the root of much violence and hatred against peoples, and this I hate. When the name of God, gods, or religious ideas is used as a war-banner against others, to justify trampling over minorities & inferiors in the name of the victory of the elect and the chosen...I can only hope with all my might that this is a gross misrepresenting and misuse of any said god if he did exist. For if a creator-God does exist...I cannot accept anything less than the Creators love for all their creatures equally. The Good Book lets be honest Christians, can be used toward great good, yes....but it also can, and has, been used for great evils. We must face this with humility and honesty if we are to avoid perpetuating a dark stain upon this earth in the name of us vs. them.
