🚩 R.I.P. 🚩 RIGOBERTO GOMEZ -Joven Latino de BEACH PARK Beach Park 17-year-old was struck by a passing vehicle and died late Monday night after he got out of his car to check on damage from hitting a median on Route 41 in North Chicago, police said. Rigoberto Gomez was just north of Route 176 at about 10 p.m. when he lost control and hit the center cement wall, according to North Chicago Police Lt. Tony Theis. Gomez then got out of his car to survey the damage, Theis said, and was struck by a vehicle also headed northbound. That driver, a Park City 54-year-old, also crashed into Gomez’s disabled car, Theis said. “There were three other accidents related to this one,” said Theis, explaining that drivers unsuccessfully tried to avoid the vehicles and broken parts scattered on the road. “At this time there are no indications that any of the drivers in any of the accidents were impaired drivers,” he said. No charges have been filed. “All evidence at this time in the investigation are suggesting that this is an unfortunate accident,” Theis said. Gomez was taken to Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital, where he died later in the night. North Chicago Police were assisted by the Lake County Sheriff Office’s Technical Crash Investigation Unit.
