* RAJOURI EXCLUSIVE NEWS * DHS Rajouri orders termination of 30 ISM Docs *Discrepancies found in appointments, directions passed for fresh recruitment* SUMIT BHARGAV Rajouri, July 17: In a major development the District Health Society (DHS) Rajouri has ordered immediate termination of contracts of 30 Indian System of Medicine (ISM) doctors appointed under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) after finding discrepancies in their appointment. According to sources, the selection procedure in appointment of the doctors was challenged by Dr Farooq Ahmed Tantray and Dr Ashish Raina in court. The sources said that after alleged discrepancies in the appointment of ISM doctors under NRHM, former Deputy Commissioner, Saugat Biswas , who was also the Chairman of District Health Society Rajouri, constituted a committee on May 11, 2012 to investigate the matter so as to bring out the facts. “The committee in its recently submitted report vide no. CMO/73/R/NRHM/2012-13 dated 26-06-2013 has confirmed that there are a lot of discrepancies in the NRHM selection process adopted for hiring of doctors resulting in suspicion and litigation. In its report submitted, committee has recommended fresh contractual hiring of eight ISM doctors and has also recommended termination of twenty two other ISM doctors appointed under the same contract. The committee has pressed for appointing local candidates after fresh advertisement”, sources told Greater Kashmir. Meanwhile, after submission of the report, District Health Society Rajouri has termed the report as genuine. Chairman of District Health Society and Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, in an order issued vide No 700-03 dated 12-07-2013, a copy of which lies with GK, has ordered ceasing of contract agreements of all the ISM doctors appointed under NRHM from time to time. As per sources, the contract of the doctors was approved for extension upto 31st of March, 2013 and no further extension was granted. Chairman District Health Society has also instructed the Chief Medical Officer / Vice - Chairman of Health Society to initiate the process for selection of ISM doctors afresh under NRHM by using notification / advertisement within a period of fifteen days of issuance of this order. Chief Medical Officer Rajouri, Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Shawl, did not responded to repeated phone calls from this news paper. Howerver, Chairman District Health Society, Faqir Chand Bhagat , confirmed that the order has been issued for ceasing of extension in contract agreement of the ISM doctors under NRHM. When asked about action against any departmental official if found accused in the matter, FC Bhagat said: “In the first instance we have ceased the contract while we are looking into the role of officials in the matter”.
