**RESCUE NEEDED** His vetting expenses for his emergency medical care are being funded through LUV 4 Animals so no cost to rescue to pull. Please someone help us keep this boy safe. Without rescue he will have to go back in to a very overcrowded 16 kennel kill shelter that serves 2 counties!! PLEASE HELP!! Remi is a Husky mix that was brought in to the shelter by some citizens of Upshur County who stated he had been attacked by a dog. They initially tried to treat him themselves but it soon became clear that they were not going to be able to provide the treatment he needed and no one in the area where he was found stepped forward to say who he belonged to. He has at least 7 HUGE puncture wounds around his neck and head area and an enormous wound to his right rear leg that is actually exposing a large part of his leg bone. Between the size of the punctures and the bite radius whatever did this to him was pretty large. The pictures posted were taken after Brenda and I gave him a bath and attempted to clean out the wounds as best we could but he came in completely infested with maggots and is still quite overwhelmed with them. (Its bad) Despite the severity of his wounds Remi never once growled at us or tried to bite when we were cleaning him and despite the massive leg wound is only walking with a slight limp which the clinic believes is related to an old femur deformity and not related to this attack. He is at the vet clinic where they have begun debridement of his wounds, packed them with some medicated salve and started him on antibiotics and 2 types of pain medication. Once all of the maggots and the eggs have been irradicated they can begin to suture up his wounds and place drains. With all of that being said it is going to be a lengthy and costly process but it is one we are willing to undergo if we can get some support in doing so. We arent a rescue and dont have the resources of a rescue such as fosters to be able to take him in to our care but we are willing to do what we can financially to give this VERY SWEET BOY a chance. To see him you would never know the medical shape he is in aside from the apparent wounds. He is active, eating, drinking, walking around just fine and just the sweetest thing. Please help us help Remi however you can be it through donation (even a single dollar helps), sharing his story with friends and rescues or offering to foster for a willing rescue.
