***Ratoath AC 5k, Sunday 14th October 2014*** Rory Kavanagh made it a trio of wins for coaching staff on Sunday morning at the Ratoath AC 5k Road Race. The race took place as part of the annual Ratoath festival. Rory won this race in 2013 and won it again this year, unchallenged, leading from gun to tape to win in a time of 16:18. Not far behind for Dunboyne AC was Ratoath native Rory ONeill who was 6th overall in a time of 17:49. Just on Rorys shoulder, in 7th place and 2nd in his category was Gerry OReilly, in a time of 17:56, just 8 seconds shy of a PB. Ratoaths race was a chance for our ladies to shine in the sun too, and it didnt disappoint. Emila led the ladies home and was first in her category, 4th overall, in a time of 19:08. Just one position behind Emilia, 5th lady, was Claire Ní Fhaircheallaigh in a time of 19:44. Fit4Life, Fit4Youth and Juveniles didnt fail to impress either. Congratulations to Emily Ryan who led the charge taking silver in the Junior race in a fab time of 23.28. Mairead Reilly ran a stormer just behind clocking 25.49, 37th in the competitive ladies senior race. Fantastic progress Mairead. Lyndon Thomas was in 5K action once again and had another great run finishing in 29.59. Our youngest entrant, 10-year old James Dillon, clocked the exact same time as Lyndon (29.59) pipping dad Martin Dillon (30.01) in the final sprint. It was neck and neck until the very end. Well done James, hard luck Martin;-) James honed his sprinting skills at our Summer Camp. James and Lyndon were on the mens team that placed 5th. Angela Egan was on the rampage yet again, claiming 2nd place in her age category in 31.08. Well done Angela; were losing count at this stage. Im sure Angela wont mind us sharing this. She told us she joined C25K in January as she felt her walking was slowing down. Lolol :). Well done to all sections of the club on a very successful club outing and congratulations to Ratoath AC on a great event. Congratulations from Fit4Life to Coach Rory Kavanagh on his win ;-) All our coaches were on a gold rush this weekend; congrats lads on the treble!
