~*Reapings *~ Its that time of the year again, where two unfortunate tributes, one boy and one girl, from each district are forced to participate in the Hunger Games. You wake up in the morning, sweating and gasping for air with your blankets wrapped tightly around you. Reluctantly, you get out of bed, take a shower and get changed into some casual clothes. What is going on in your head - its the Reaping Day after all. Slowly, you make your way downstairs to have breakfast. After breakfast, you walk to the town square, sign in and have some people take a little bit of your blood, and wait in a large crowd. Then, you see your representative walk onto the stage. Welcome, welcome, they say, Happy Hunger Games, and may the odds be ever in your favour. Your representative then turns on a video for you all to watch. War, terrible war. Widows, orphans, a motherless child. This was the uprising that rocked our land. Thirteen districts rebelled against the country that fed them, loved them, protected them. Brother turned on brother until nothing remained. And then came the peace, hard fought, sorely won. The people rose up from the ashes and a new era was born. But freedom has a cost and the traitors were defeated. We swore as a nation we would never know this treason again. And so it was decreed, that each year, the various districts of Panem would offer up in tribute, one young man and woman, to fight to the death in a pageant of honor, courage and sacrifice. The lone victor bathed in riches, would serve as a reminder of our generosity and our forgiveness. This is how we remember our past. This is how we safeguard our future. Now, the time has come to select our courageous tributes, your representative says, before grabbing a small white slip of paper from an enormous glass bowl. What happens next?
