[Related Event]: Ontario Model World Health Organization (OMWHO) is an annual conference sponsored by the University of Toronto International Health Program (UTIHP). The conference will take place in January 2015 over three days during which delegates will have the opportunity to simulate the World Health Organization assembly in the same vein as model United Nations conferences. In the past, delegates have come from all over Canada and the United States and from many disciplines and program of study – including undergraduate, medicine, and graduate programs. Each year the conference has a theme – this year’s is Health and Climate Change - a summary of which is included below: OMWHO 2015 will be a national platform to discuss the effect that climate change has on the health of various populations. Topics of importance will include food and water security, climate refugees, and access to healthcare for vector-borne diseases. OMWHO is an excellent event that facilitates Global Health education and awareness and promotes the interaction of multi-disciplinary students who share a common interest in Global Health. It allows attendees to not only learn about but also discuss and attempt to remedy current issues related to Global Health.
