"Remembering" 9/11 once a year with a few words tapped into a smartphone, or re-posted photo, is a gesture nearly without meaning. Instead, I challenge you all to spend the next year thinking about the attacks, the people who died as a result (both here and abroad, both immediately and in the ongoing aftermath), the intolerance and hubris that caused both the attacks and the ineffective reaction from this country and others, and the many ways that we as a nation and citizens of a planet can improve our attitudes toward those around us, so that we might never have to face another act of terror on that scale.
