(Reported by Vijayarajan Muthu & quoting below) Sharing some terrible news from Bandhavgarh. It is beyond me as to why would humans (forest officials) try to not only intervene but also disengage 2 wild Tigers from a territorial fight. Havent they heard of survival of the fittest ? Such a shame. A very sad day for Bandhavgarh !! Bandhavgarh loses one of its protector & a tiger : On 16th July 14, a fierce fight between two male tigers were reported from the Mirchaini area of Tala zone & it was reported that a tiger was wounded. Immediately, an elephant patrolling team was dispatched. It consisted of a lone elephant along with the Mahawat, a deputy ranger & a beat guard. They wanted to disperse the fighting tigers to avoid any mortality. When the elephant reached the place, both the tigers attacked the elephant from front & behind biting it at its legs & trunk. Because of this commotion, the beat guard fell from the elephant & eventually died. Our sources, although unconfirmed, say that the beat guard died because of the fall & the tigers did not attack it. Later, the mutilated body of a one & half year old tiger was also recovered.
