(Reposted from the NERC forum on delphi at forums.delphiforums/cjrc/messages/?msg=3566.1) Hello fellow builders, Ive had a good year and decided to invest a little of my extra funding in growing the sport. I have decided to offer a sponsorship to new builders who register and compete with a robot at Motorama 2015. The sponsorship will be in the form of a one-time payment made by me via personal check or paypal to the builder of the robot sent no later than March 1st, 2015 (one week after the competition). The amount paid depends on the weight class and whether the robot has an active weapon, as well as how soon that robot is registered with me, via email. The position of the entry will be determined by the arrival time in my email inbox at zac dot odonnell at gmail dot com. The payment amounts are shown in US Dollars in this table: imgur/hQUAzR2 The robot entry including builder name, robot name, weight class, and expected active weapon status must be emailed to me at zac dot odonnell at gmail dot com. The arrival time of this email will be used to order the entries on the list ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS The following requirements must be met for an entry to be considered. If any requirement is not met the entry will forfeit its position in the list and the next elligible entry will receive the sponsorship money. The robot entry must be from a new builder who has never before competed in a fighting robot competition. This person must drive the robot at the competition. This new builder will be the one to receive the payment directly from me. The robot cannot be entered in place of a robot that is already registered. The point is to grow the sport by getting new builders involved while making the field larger so the competition is more fun. The robot must be primarily new construction, although of course parts of the robot can be already used. The majority of the robot chassis should be new construction but reusing an existing weapon blade, mount, or internal components are allowed. An existing wedge plate or armor panel can be used also but dont go overboard and enter an existing robot with new paint. The robot must pass the event safety inspection and compete in at least one match at Motorama 2015. ACTIVE WEAPON BONUS The active weapon bonus will only be awarded if the robot also meets these criteria: The weapon must be a legitimate attempt at a weapon, no small servo-powered lifters taped to the front of a 12 pounder just to get the bonus. The weapon must move during the robots first match. The weapon system (mount, motor, controller, etc) combined must take up at least 10% of the robots overall weight The weapon system must not require the drive system to move for the weapon to function except in the case of a melty-brain or similar design that can actually translate across the arena while spinning. Thwak bots (horizontal or overhead) do not count. Contact me if you need a specific exception LIMITS ON PAYMENTS I will pay the amount owed, in order of registration, until I have spent $1,000. If the final entry in the list that receives funding from this pool is owed more than what remains in the $1,000 pool I will pay what they are owed up to a total expenditure of $1,200. If an entry fails to meet an eligibility requirement then the additional funds that they would have received instead remain in the pool and cascade to the next entry in the list. If an entry ends up being in a different weight class or weapon status than originally anticipated the actual amount it consumes from the pool will be determined by its status in its first fight. I will publish a google spreadsheet of the entries and their expected weight class and weapon status in the order that I receive them. I will try to keep it up to date at least daily. I know it is late in the game with the registration deadline fast approaching 10 days from today so I need you to spread the word as fast as you can and start leaning on your friends who have shown interest but havent *quite* taken the leap yet.
