Click here for more details. 15 October UNMEER: The United Nations Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER) has announced a strategy for combating the Ebola outbreak. A target of the “70-70-60 plan” has been decided. This plan would ensure safe burial of 70 percent deaths and hospital-based isolation of 70 percent of suspected cases within 60 days of 1 October. UNMEER has cautioned that by 1 December, the detection of new Ebola cases could rise up to 10,000 per week. An urgent requirement of hospital beds and trained staff has also been highlighted. Liberia: Additional aid in the form of doctors, laboratory personnel and logistics support has been pledged by Norway and the United States. As go slow actions at Ebola Treatment Units continue, a proposed piece of legislation seeking protection for health workers has been submitted to the House of Representatives.
