# SAINT OF THE DAY # ST. PATRICK, Bishop (Patron of Ireland) Feast Day: March 17 St. Patrick, the Apostle of Ireland was born in Great Britain about 385. While still a young boy, he was taken captive and sold as a slave to Ireland. He worked as a herdsman, later escaped to his native country, and decided to become a priest. After his ordination, he later became the Bishop of Ireland, and was indefatigable in preaching the faith throughout the country. With great zeal and pastoral concern he organized the Church throughout Ireland. He died in 461, and was buried at Down Patrick. PRAYER : Father in Heaven, You sent the Great Bishop Patrick to the people of Ireland to share his faith and to spend his life in loving service. May our lives bear witness to the faith we profess, and our love bring others to the peace and joy of Your Gospel. Amen. St. Patrick, Pray for us !
