**SCRIPTURE READINGS for Dec. 12** Help, Lord, for the godly man ceases! For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men. They speak idly everyone with his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak. May the Lord cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaks proud things, who have said, With our tongue we will prevail; our lips are our own; who is lord over us? --Psalm 12:1-4 As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God...Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God. --Psalm 42:1-2, 11 ******* Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is STUPID. (v. 1) The WICKED are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the righteous will stand. (v. 7) The WICKED is ensnared by the transgression of his lips, but the righteous will come through trouble. (v. 13) The way of a FOOL is right in his own eyes, but he who heeds counsel is wise. A fools wrath is known at once, but a prudent man covers shame. He who speaks truth declares righteousness, but a FALSE WITNESS, deceit. (vs. 15-17) DECEIT is in the heart of those who DEVISE EVIL, but counselors of peace have joy. No grave trouble will overtake the righteous, but the WICKED shall be filled with evil. LYING lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who deal truthfully are His delight. A prudent man conceals knowledge, but the heart of FOOLS proclaims foolishness. (vs.20-23) The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the WICKED leads them astray. (v. 26) --Proverbs 12:1, 7, 13, 15-17, 20-23, 26
