**SCRIPTURE READINGS for the weekend, September 13-14** Sept. 13 Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagles. (vs. 1-5) The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy....He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according our iniquities. (vs.8, 10) Bless the Lord, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word. Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, you ministers of His, who do His pleasure. (vs. 20-21) --Psalm 103:1-5, 8, 10, 20-21 *** By pride comes nothing but strife, but with the well-advised is wisdom. (v. 10) Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life. (v.12) A good man leaves an inheritance to his childrens children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous. (v. 22) --Proverbs 13:10, 12, 22 ******* Sept. 14 The fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none who does good. --Psalm 14:1 *** Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, You are very great; You are clothed with honor and majesty, Who covers Yourself with light as with a garment, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain...Who makes His angels spirits, His ministers a flame of fire. --Psalm 104:1-2, 4 *** The wise woman build her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her hands. (v. 1) A scoffer seeks wisdom and does not find it, but knowledge is easy to him who understands. Go from the presence of a foolish man, when you do not perceive in him the lips of knowledge. The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way, but the folly of fools is deceit. Fools mock at sin, but among the upright there is favor. (vs. 6-9) A wise man fears and departs from evil, but a fool rages and is self-confident. A quick-tempered man acts foolishly, and a man of wicked intentions is hated. (vs.16-17) In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and His children will have a place of refuge. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to turn one away from the snares of death. (vs. 26-27) He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, but he who is impulsive exalts folly. (v. 29) Wisdom rests in the heart of him who has understanding, but what is in the heart of fools is made known. (v. 33) Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. (v. 34) --Proverbs 14:1, 6-9, 16-17, 26-27, 29, 33-34
