~ SHAME ON THE TIMES OF INDIA FOR ITS VIEWS ON RAM-LEELA - TopicsExpress

~ SHAME ON THE TIMES OF INDIA FOR ITS VIEWS ON RAM-LEELA ~ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- . . Even after the Madhya Pradesh HIGH COURTS order that Sanjay Leela Bhansalis latest film can not be released under the title name RAM-LEELA with the observation that it may affect public sentiments seriously and adversely ; THE TIMES OF INDIA posted the following views in its TIMES VIEW column on November 15, 2013 : . It has become far too common an event these days for some group or other to claim that a work of art has hurt religious sentiments . Courts would do well not to treat such claims seriously. ............. Freedom of artistic expression is precious in a democratic society . Courts must not allow it to be trampled upon on the basis of such flimsy and frivolous claims . . . Pleading for freedom of artistic expressions against a tolerant society is so easy but if the same is so precious to the Times , let it show courage and express similar views against the intolerant societies and faiths and face the music . . Having been patronized by this country for 175 years , the Times of India should have by now known, that the word Ram-Leela has a specific meaning for the people of this country . Every one knows that the word has specifically been used to narrate or depict the tales and life of LORD RAM , whom the Hindus worship and consider as GOD INCARNATE , as also an Idol who , by his might , destroyed the Evil of all evils . Even the honourable court has also aptly observed that The word RAM-LEELA has its own significance and could not have been used to exhibit the story based on Romeo and Juliet . . There is observable and persistant trend in the film-world to exploit the sentiments of gullible Hindus , insult their faith and make enormous money by deception . Even earlier films have been named with similar motive e. g. RAVAN , OM JAI JAGDEESH HARE etc. . . I therefore repeat : SHAME ON THE THE TIMES OF INDIA for its view and sentiments . I would be happy if all right thinking people will stop patronizing this Anti-Hindu paper to teach it a lesson . SHAME ALSO BE ON SANJAY LEELA BHANSALI , who , although, has earned enormous fame and wealth for producing very good films , could not desist from such cheap gimmicks as misusing Hindu Faith and the word RAM-LEELA for earning a few extra chips , that too from a film which is hardly worthy to be seen by sober families . . .....................vn saksena.
