While speaking with journalists, he said the government held a colloquium in honour of his late father and that despite his earlier warning that the burial should not be politicized, Governor Okorocha gathered all the members of his political party and wanted to turn the event into an APC rally. However, obviously embarrassed by Charly Boy’s action, the Governor and members his entourage hurriedly left the church service midway, despite entreaties from the officiating Bishop Kuka for them to stay on. It was gathered that Charly Boy’s action followed a recent statement by Government House, Owerri, to the effect that the Oputa family was given N20 million to assist it in the burial arrangements.
