#SKY #WEEKLY #INSIGHT: Question: What do you advise Young Muslims living in the Western countries, and how should we react or respond to the tragedies occurring in the Muslim countries? SKY/ Answer: While it is true, that Muslims have a sacred and moral obligation, to support all Muslim suffering, and to champion the cause of social justice, everywhere, it is more prudent for them, to focus most of their attention and resources upon their most immediate developments and issues. We are experiencing tremendous media overexposure, and therefore, can easily find ourselves reacting to valid stimuli, but manipulated by different groups, for their particular agenda. Young Muslims should seek the advice, and stabilize themselves, through their genuine association with Senior Muslim organizations and individuals. They should honor their parents, and respect the people of religion, but must understand, that religion is not simply rituals performed at certain times, with a set of specific rules. For religion to attract and succeed, it has to be relevant to what is actually happening, and it has to provide answers and solutions. Young Muslims should expand their reading scope, by subscribing to periodicals like: Times Weekly, Newsweek, Economist, Fortune, Money, WSJ, Harvard Law Review, Harvard Business Review, National Geographic, Success, Encyclopedia Britannica – Americana, so they develop a mature understanding of the present world. I advise Young Muslims, in collaboration with Senior Advisors, to create a Cyber Think Tank, to research, to write, to share, to organize and to develop, viable propositions to various issues. Through research, writing, and sharing, we can objectively examine many issues. We can also document what we have found. Something practical that we can all afford to do, in response to any humanitarian cause in the world, is to raise money for them through INGO’s and NGOs. Those registered agencies who know the procedures and particulars of the international theatre, where you may want to offer your support. I am advising Young Muslims in the Western countries, or Young Muslims in the Muslim countries, that although you are hearing many documented, horrific stories of Muslim sufferings, in so many places, let me see if I can replace one suffering, with one inspiration. In the last thirteen years, since the tragic occasion of 9/11, more than 600,000 US citizens have embraced Islam. There are over eight million Muslims, with some six thousand (6,000) Islamic Centers in North America. Islam is now the fastest growing religion in the Western world. We understand and empathize, with everyone’s history and culture, yet we need to protect our vision and our legacy, for Islam and America. Sincerely, Abu Muhammad, Khalid Yasin
