#SP, #BSP discover love for social media. Beaten hollow at the social media game by Narendra Modi and his team, Uttar Pradeshs regional parties are starting to embrace, if only belatedly, social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter to spread the word about their work. The BSP, for instance, despite a considerable support-base online, has fought shy of launching any online interactions. On July 10, though, BSPs general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra, announced through his own Twitter handle, the launch of BSPs official Facebook and Twitter pages - Facebook/bsp4india and @bsp4india. The decision to set up an online initiative, followers feel, will help the party rebuild its mass base. Dalit author and Mayawati critique Kanwal Bharti said, Mayawati is not known to be open to criticism. By launching Facebook and Twitter pages, she is opening herself to feedback. If this response genuinely reaches her and she makes good on the suggestions, it will help the revival of the party. If not, it is just an attempt to catch up with what rival parties are doing.
