★ STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Ana Angeles ★ Ana Angeles is a full-time, first year student in the Higher Education and Student Affairs M.A. program. She is originally from the Philippines and grew up both in Manila and Vallejo, California. Ana is a proud graduate of California State University, Monterey Bay, with a BS in International Business and a minor in Global Studies. Ana had a transformative and enriching undergraduate experience, which sparked her interest in pursuing a career in and giving back to the Higher Education and Student Affairs field. She was involved in different facets of student life, including student government, orientation, and student activities and leadership development. She conceptualized and spearheaded the development of the first Asian Pacific Islander Graduation and studied abroad “across the pond” where she played for Kingston University’s women’s basketball team. She was also a National Association for Student Affairs Administrators (NASPA) Undergraduate Fellow and attended the NASPA Dungy Leadership Institute. She is currently the Graduate Assistant in the Student Development and Activities office at Marymount Manhattan College. In her role, she coordinates and executes educational diversity programming for the student body and assists with the planning of major campus events like Orientation. Ana also serves as a Graduate Student Ambassador for the NYU Resource Center, a NASPA Graduate Associate for NYU, and was also elected as the Academic Support and Advocacy Chair for the Association of Student Affairs Professionals (ASAP). Additionally, Ana is excited to spend the summer as a Residence Director at Cornell University through an ACUHO-I internship. Ana looks forward to finishing her first year in the program and becoming a well-rounded Student Affairs practitioner upon graduation.
