((Sanctification by the Word of God)) John 17:17-19 Santify - TopicsExpress

((Sanctification by the Word of God)) John 17:17-19 Santify them by your truth. Your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I santify Myself, that they also may be santified by the truth. To be santified is to be set apart or separated for a particular reason or use. You can also interpret it as being seperated from sin. In the passage above Jesus is praying for His disciples before He is to be crucified. He prays that God would sanctify them with His truth. Jesus then identifies Gods word to be the truth. Gods word is therefore the path to our santification (seperation from sin). That path can only be trodded upon by faithful study to His word. God has given us the key to living a pure and undefiled life before Him in His living word. Therefore, knowing the truth is of utmost importance to us! It is not enough to hear truth from others without knowing it for yourself. Neither is it acceptable to tolerate heresies and lies that try to pervert Gods truth! Jesus was santified for oursakes, that we can also be santified by His truth. He was completely set apart to do the will of the Father. His whole life revolved around that. He did so that we could also be santified as believers. But we must study His word. Ephesians 5:25-27 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. In this Scripture we see that the church will be presented to Christ without spot, blemish, or wrinkle, but instead a glorious and holy church. The means of this all is the washing of water by the word. You see, Gods word plays a very big part in our santification, and if we are to remain in a santified manner we must know His word. Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Let us hide His words in our hearts so that we do not sin against our God. If you find yourself in a season where your just not as fired up as you were before, get into the word. If your going through struggles, get into the word. If your confused, get into the word. Whatever youre going through, get into the word! Draw close to it and let it guide paths.
