#School Days – EPISODE 20 ********************************** Love comes when you least expect it to come and with the person you least expect to fall in love with – lammie (For my mind, I don get quote self ) *** ‘Who is your dear?’ She asked. ‘Err.. You na or aren’t you my dear?’ I asked with a wide grin. ‘If that’s what you mind is telling you better stop letting it decieve you’ she replied and looked away. I kept quiet for a bit, staring at her codedly thinking of what else to say when she asked; ‘are you going to talk to me or are we just going to stand here and keep on doing a staring competition? ‘Err.. Hmmm’ ‘Hmmm what?’ She blurted out almost immediately. ‘I actually wanted to tell you something now but your undeniable flawless beauty has discombobulated my medulla oblongata and thus leaving me in a state of uncertainty and disconcert’ I replied, packing all the big words I knew in one sentence hoping she would be impressed. Rather than looking impressed, she looked confused. She stood right at the front of me with both her eyes and mouth wide open in surprise after a few seconds, she came back to life and closed her mouth, she swallowed saliva and asked; ‘Is that all you have to say’ ‘Chai! This girl is hard to impress oh, let me try a calmer approach’ I thought to myself. I cleared my throat and with a drunk man courage I started a speech; ‘Jane…’ I called her name out. ‘Yes, Michael’ she replied. I hadn’t told her my name yet but she already knew it, that was a good sign na, or so I thought. ‘I’m not going to start telling you how beautiful or amazing you are since am sure you already know you are, but all I I want to ask you is to give yourself a chance to get to know me better, I can assure you that if you do, you’ll like me’ I replied and let my lips curve into a shy smile. She laughed out loud for a while and then said; ‘who said I don’t like you as a matter of fact, I love you?’ At this point, I was about jumping up in excitement of the fact that she actually just admitted she loved me too but she then made an additional statement that restricted me from jumping. ‘God said we should love our neighbours as ourselves, you are my neighbour so I love you too’ she smiled mischievously as she said this. Funny enough, I felt the urge to laugh since that was actually quite funny but I controlled the urge and finally decided to take Dolls advice on getting to know her first since all my direct approaches weren’t working. ‘Errr.. Okay, let’s forget about all of that. Do you mind if we sit and talk?’ I asked. ‘Aren’t we already talking now? What difference would sitting make?’ She asked. ‘If you don’t mind, I want to know more about you, as a matter of fact, I want to know everything about you and something tells me there’s a lot to know, so standing won’t be so nice’ ‘Okay, firstly, I mind. So unless you are going to be the one doing all the talking I suggest you say all you want to say now the books I brought to class won’t read their selves. ‘Hmmm… Okay, we would do it your way, I’ll tell you all about myself and then you’ll do the same afterwards, so can we find a somewhere to sit?’ I asked. She didn’t even answer me before she turned and walked away to her classroom; ‘this girl always likes to be in charge sha, just my kind of lady’ I thought as I ran after her. We got to her class and she sat on a locker that had no vacant locker around it, I was pissed but didn’t show it ‘if this is the price to get this girl, I’ll pay it’ I urged myself, the looked for an empty locker in the class and dragged it beside hers. ‘So where do we start from?’ I asked. ‘I don’t know, you said you are going to do all the talking. My own is just to listen’ ‘Okay then, let me start from the beginning. As you already know, my name is Michael and I have a very big head, I also…’ She interrupted me by laughing out loud and then said; ‘you got that right, that’s so true!’ She was still giggling as she made this comment. ‘Am a native of Delta state and based in lag… I have…’ I kept on talking for about 10 minutes chirping little jokes from time to time in other to keep the conversation going… ‘… I think that’s all I can remember about myself for now, you would have to know the rest with time, so what do you think?’ I asked when I was done. ‘What do I think? Asin how?’ ‘I don’t know, what do you think about me now?’ ‘Oh! That? Errr.. I think you are a stubborn spoilt brat’ she shocked me with her reply but I wasn’t ready to show that I was shocked so I sorta ignored the statement and moved on. ‘I expected you to say that, anyway, enough about Michael’s life, let’s talk about Jane’ ‘Who is Jane?’ She asked. ‘Errr.. Jane is my dearie’ I replied smiling like a kid who just did a mischievous thing. ‘Hmmm, so where is she?’ ‘She is right at my front now’ ‘Oh! You are talking about me? Asin my Jane?’ ‘Yep, your Jane’ ‘Okay, well, Jane is a …’ Just as the devil was totally against me, the prep supervisors suddenly arrived when she was about to start talking so I had to option than to bid her goodbye and with a promise to continue our gist the next day. I there after reluctantly went to my class and as usual, Dolls was already there, waiting for an update on the parole, when I was done narrating the whole thing to him, he hailed me and called me all sorta name in an attempt to whine me. He also urged me to write a letter and send it to her that same night. I knew how to write letters, asin the type you write your address at the top right corner of the sheet of paper, and ‘your’s sincerely’ at the bottom then submit it to your english teacher for marking (lol, what were you expecting? That I sent it to a post office?). Anyway, I didn’t need to be told that an official letter and a ‘love letter’, so to say, are two different things with almost totally different formats. ‘Guy, I no sabi write letter o’ I finally voiced out to Dolls. ‘No worry, before prep finish, You for don write and send one’ he replied and winked at me.
