‘Selma’s’ glaring flaw An adviser to Lyndon Johnson says the movie falsely portrays LBJ and Martin Luther King’s relationship. Films are not history, as Hollywood famously demonstrates with Exodus and The Interview and Lincoln and Glory and every other release! It is subscription fantasy entertainment, ticket buyers being the subscribers! History seldom is history itself! Being but a set of incidents in which there is group concurrence. So much of history is just belief, which is subjective, and inaccurate, that Joe Califanos condemnation of Selma seems unfairly critical of the film and of the genre, itself! Why not require that factual disclaimers accompany all film releases, like on cigarettes, on all films, given public gullibility and ignorance? Propaganda is also hazardous to the health!
