VIGOROUS WINDS FOR SOUTHEAST NSW Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure lies across northern New South Wales, while a series of cold fronts are moving across the Southern Ocean towards southeast Australia. This pattern is expected to generate gusty winds over southern and central parts of the state during the remainder of this week. Alpine peaks in the Snowy Mountain forecast district may experience winds averaging around 80 km/h on Tuesday, with peak gusts to 100 km/h. Remaining parts of the Snowy Mountains district, plus higher parts of the Illawarra, Southern Tablelands and ACT forecast districts, may experience damaging wind gusts to 90 km/h during Tuesday afternoon.
