****Shadows From The Past,**** Episode 31 #Doro_yemzy Atinuke was sitting next to her mother on her bed. “Mummy, why is it that you don’t like Raymond’s girlfriend?” Atinuke asked. “My dear its not that I don’t like her but remember nothing comes freely. Not even love. She needed to convince me before I can endorse her relationship with my son.” Bianca Douglas explained. “So when will you be convinced?” Atinuke asked. “I have been convinced already. She has proven me wrong, she has moral and she maintain a high decency level.” She explained. “So she is good to go?” “I’ll meet her family first. You know its very important.” “Mum! I never knew this was the plan.” Atinuke said laughing. “Let me say hello to them.” Mrs Douglas said rising up. ————- Tina was in the kitchen preparing breakfast. She never liked the idea of the maids preparing food when she herself is a very good cook. The doorbell rang. “Sweetheart.” Raymond called from the bathroom. “Don’t worry I’ll get it.” Tina said as she headed for the door. She pushed the door open and was shocked with the person she saw. “Good morning ma.” She greeted with fear written all over her, even though she was rest assured that Raymond will come to her aid. “How are you my dear.” Mrs Douglas asked patting her on the shoulder. Tina stepped aside for her mother-in-law to be. The old lady walked into the living room with Tina following her closely. Mrs Bianca Douglas stopped in her tracks and looked at Tina. Tina looked at the old lady and back to the floor where the clothes they took off the previous night were. She felt very embarrassed to let her mother- in-law see their clothes. Mrs Douglas gave her a disgusting look of “I knew you are a slut looking for whom to influence.” Tina picked up the clothes including her undies as she walked out of the sitting room. Mrs Douglas sat down on the couch as Tina exited the living room. INSIDE THE BEDROOM Raymond was seated on his reading table his laptop computer opened before him. He has a game pad in his hand as he was playing a racing game. “Sweetheart, mum is in the sitting room.” Tina announced dropping the clothes in a closet. “Mum?” Raymond asked a bit suprised. He stood up and left for the living room. Mother and son discuss for the first time in two days without anyone raising a voice at the other. Since they had both settled their grudge when Raymond travelled to the United states early the previous day. His father rebuked and corrected him and Raymond called his mother to apologise. They have both put their differences behind them and they are now looking forward to the future. “Darling, should I set the table?” Tina asked. “Yes. Infact I’ll be having my breakfast here.” Mrs Douglas said further suprising Tina with her actions. The three of them had breakfast together as mother and son continued their conversation and occassional question were thrown at Tina who heartily contributed to the subjects being discussed. –to be continued–
