“Shaun ya Shaun” In memory of Shaun from Prince Fluffy - TopicsExpress

“Shaun ya Shaun” In memory of Shaun from Prince Fluffy Kareem This is my donation to PFK and my sincere gift to Sherif who along with @Marte Kjoell dedicates his life to Horses, Mules, Donkeys and Camels in Egypt. "There is a cheerful song from the Nubian district of Egypt called “So ya So” and Sherif used to sing it to Shaun, changing the words to “Shaun ya Shaun”. When Shaun arrived at PFK, his legs were boiling and he had pus coming out of his coronary bands. Sherif dug him a little pool in the ménage that we filled with cold water and put him in for the first hours. For the next weeks and even months, Shaun was mostly lying flat out while growing a new hoof. He never got sound due to a previous fracture in his front leg, but he was well enough to go ballistic in the ménage and canter and buck and rear! He was a real daddy’s boy and loved to get attention from Sherif. I say about every horse that it’s beautiful, but Shaun was really remarkably handsome and always gathered loads of admiring comments on his pictures – with Sherif sitting by counting the likes and glowing with pride, laughing at how few comments Kareem got! With his fluffy forelock, beautiful eyes and handsome face Shaun was every horse girl’s dream. He loved to be showered with kisses on his nose and always stood still with pricked ears waiting for the next one. His kind and gentle personality made him my equine psychologist, Shaun was the horse to go to when I needed a good cry. I once even fell asleep by his feet after crying for a dying horse. Sherif found me an hour later, Shaun standing completely still next to me. It’s almost unfathomable that he is gone and this week has been so difficult to get through. But as Egyptians always say no matter how bad things get, and as Sherif also said after taking Shaun to his final resting place; “Elhamdulilah” – praise to God. We have to be thankful for the time we got with him and be happy that he lived his final year with a full stomach and no work, only play. We will always miss you Shaun. I know that you and your heartbroken dad will meet each other again on the other side."
