*Showers Developing This Afternoon* *Light Wintry Mix Possible Tuesday* *Dry & Sunny for NYE & NYD* DETAILS – Clouds will quickly increase across central Virginia this morning and some light rain showers will develop this afternoon. It will be seasonably mild today with highs in the middle to upper 50s. Rain showers will continue for tonight and into Monday, but we are only looking at a quarter of an inch of rain. Temperatures tonight will dip back to near 40 and only rebound on Monday into the middle 40s. While the showers will end by midday Monday clouds will persist, although there might be some limited afternoon sunshine. Another very weak system will slide into the region early Tuesday morning. The timing of this system will allow for some light rain showers and possibly a wintry mix of snow and sleet. This is not a big system but it will come in during the Tuesday morning commute so it could be a little tricky. That system will quickly depart and allow for partly sunny skies to return on New Year’s Eve Day with highs in the lower 40s. It looks like we will have quiet weather for New Year’s Eve night although it will be chilly with temperatures in the middle 20s. Sunny skies will be around for New Year’s Day with highs in the upper 40s. Friday will feature partly sunny skies with highs in the lower 50s. More clouds will increase later Friday evening and Friday night ahead of our next system which will bring rain for Saturday.
