“Sh’ma, Yisra’el! Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai echad [Hear, Isra’el! Adonai our God, Adonai is one]; and you are to love Adonai your God with all your heart, all your being and all your resources. Deuteronomy 6:4-5 Who are you? The world wants to know what you are, what you do; how you earn your money, how you support yourself and your family, whether you have a bank account and what debts you have. The world judges you on what you do (singer, sportsman, gravedigger, thief, rapist), the world takes what you do and out of this they assume they know who you are. The world attempts to know the flesh, the world judges by the flesh, the world is entertained by the flesh, the world is lured by the flesh, the world creates gods based on the flesh. God knows the heart. This scripture is the requirement to measure a persons faithfulness to Adonai; a yard stick of simple spiritual honesty. This scripture is the Old Testaments measure of whether a man was born again. If you want to know whether you are truly born again - look at this scripture and see if you measure up. And dont worry if you dont feel like you do, just measure yourself against it (to want to do this means you are concerned about your stand before God so you are on the right track here). Now ask yourself this question. Who am I when i am alone? When we are alone we are already standing before God, as He sees all. When we are alone we are not seen by any human beings to witness whether we live to measure up to who God has called us to be. But God sees all. He sees all we do, He sees all even in the pitch black, He sees ALL. Now, do I love God with ALL of my heart, ALL of my being and ALL of my resources? Being born again is not just something we say, it is not merely a mouthed prayer. Being born again brings inexplicable joy, joy sets us moving and wanting to share what we have with others, it compels us to leap and sing and weep and laugh; our emotions become sensitive and alive - more aware of life. It is who we are, who we become, who we yearn to follow, who we long to see and who we strive to be. One with God. When you are no longer running after what the world says of you and you start to battle with the flesh to feed your spirit with God Himself in love under grace; then you will know - you really are born again
