~Skyscapes~ When The Blue Light Gathers by Susan Nixon The sunset - Brilliantly flowing In golds and tangerine, In fluttering white wisps, And in a fleeting submergent Relationship with the horizon, Began its descent. Twilight, With its Blue light, Was gathering Its folds. Slowly, slowly The cloaking of daylight Began. The moon Yawned, Awakened By the Confetti of darkness. And the tree, The tree, Was very still. Already in the sunset of its life, A silhouette of its former self. In the warm waning rays, I became keenly aware That the rising and setting - The light and the lack of it; The passing of day and night, Began long before my arrival, And would continue Long after I was gone, Just like the tree. The difference between me and the tree, Was that I could affect others, With my arrival and with my thoughts, With the passing of days, And with my images. How will you affect the landscape of your life? How will you feel when the blue light begins to gather? Image and Poetry © Susan Nixon Sunset: Peach Glow August 3, 2014 Harnett County, NC
