“Sleepy Hollow,” billed in a press release as “a thrilling new modern-day retelling of Washington Irving’s classic story” known for its delivery of the nefarious Headless Horseman, is a 20th Century Fox Television production slated to air Monday nights starting this fall. The show already occupies offices and soundstages at EUE Screen Gems Studios, off of 23rd Street in Wilmington, with production expected to begin in late July and to last the remainder of the year, according to the Wilmington Regional Film Commission and the N.C. Film Office. The initial order is 12 episodes, the groups said in a press release Thursday. “We are certainly excited that once again Wilmington has been chosen as the home for another TV series,” said Johnny Griffin, the film commission’s director. “This series will continue Wilmington’s long running success with television production.” Wilmington has in recent time served as the filming location for such television shows as NBC’s “Revolution” and the forthcoming “Under the Dome” on CBS, the latter based on a story by Stephen King. The fourth (and reportedly final) season of HBO’s “East Bound and Down” is also in the works, locally. The Port City has, generally over the past two years, regained its status as a hotbed for motion picture-making–the recently released smash “Iron Man 3″ was filmed here as well–with officials routinely crediting the incentives North Carolina offers high-spending productions. “20th Century Fox Television continues to see the value of working in North Carolina,” N.C. Film Office Director Aaron Syrett said in Thursday’s announcement. portcitydaily/2013/06/06/tv-series-sleepy-hollow-picks-wilmington-for-production/
