So as about a month ago, something happened to the English - TopicsExpress

So as about a month ago, something happened to the English language that literally makes no sense. The definition of literally has been changed. Before it meant without metaphor, completely serious, to be literal. Now it has a second meaning, according to Oxford Dictionary. Can be used to express metaphor, to not be literal. What? So literally, the word literally, means figuratively, which means I can say I literally just got 100 things mailed to me at once. When ACTUALLY, what you meant was, I figuratively just got 100 things mailed to me at once. I blame this on uneducated peoples. In 10 years I see this being a proper sentence to the English community, and an A+ in school. Your defiantly going to come with us two write? I hope to sea you theyre. Dont forget to bring youre jacket, Ive hard it was gonna be cold. My ocd now has ocd after typing that... Their reason for this change was because lots of people misuses the word so we should change the definition to accommodate. What a great fix to the problem. Lets just make grand theft and murder legal because lots of people do it. That isnt how things work. If thats your logic lets just make there their and theyre the same, sea and see the same, to, too, and two, and definitely and defiantly because people seem to use those wrong or mix them up all the time.
