There is now a question of a community of nations, including America and Great Britain, coming together and starting negotiations for the release of the girl students. This initiative was regarded with suspicion by almost all analysts in my country, Turkey; the unfortunate experience of Iraq and Afghanistan enraged all those who heard the words “US assistance.” Would another mercy mission again leave a bloody body count in its wake?
