#SoapBox #UnpopularOpinion I think Stay and Play should remain. I would like to see a statement from AAGT and/or IQA(USQ?) addressing the expressed issues, and Im confident that either or both will address them, but I do not share the same rage against them as has been thrown around recently. Hear me out. **Know that I do NOT speak for the company or on any of the company employees behalf. This is my personal testimony.** Having worked with AAGT as a staff member on the previous two Mid Atlantic Regional Championships, I have a good idea how the process works. I also know that AAGT does not actually turn a high profit from this venture. They work with the IQA because they love quidditch. AAGT has actually been the ones frequently screwed over by hotels. They are still quite a nascent organization, much like the IQA, and so the deals that they are able to secure are not quite as low as some of us would like. This is partially due to the fact that before WCVII, AAGT could not guarantee the hotels that they could fill X amount of rooms when they secure the agreement. With Stay and Play they have a MUCH better idea of how many rooms they can and will fill, so that prices can be brought down. With one Stay and Play event under their belts, they will also have precedent to reference when working deals with hotels for future events. I dont expect prices to drop dramatically right away, but give it one more year, and I am confident that AAGT will build the reputation and credibility to negotiate lower rates for hotels. Also, I want to assure players that AAGT has seen and heard your concerns and are determined to address them. I have heard that they will be looking into economy options for the future, as opposed to the high end lodging that is desired by some but unnecessary for most. Give AAGT a chance. They are growing right beside quidditch. And as both quidditch and AAGT grow, they will improve both individually and as a team, making each other better as we move toward the future of the sport. *steps off soapbox*
