"Sometimes dogs get into trouble because the humans around them forget that they’re dogs—we love them all but a dog is not going to always think and reason like a human. Such is the case with Cane. From staff notes: “Cane had an incident where he bit the owner’s cousin while the cousin leaned over the owner’s girlfriend and Cane himself. However, at the moment, Cane probably was being protective of the girlfriend.” So who gets blamed for this human’s silliness—not the human—its Cane who ended up sitting in a cage at Brooklyn ACC. Its Cane who’s on tomorrow’s euthanasia list. Its Cane who doesn’t understand any of this. According to his owner, Cane never lived with other dogs but is friendly with them. He’s also friendly towards strangers and children. But left alone for up to 12 hours a day, Cane’s owner acknowledged that “he’s a very good dog just needs attention”. He’s New Hope only which means he can only come out of there alive if he’s pulled by a rescue. So tonight, Cane is looking for that special person who understands that this handsome 3 year old just wants to be a dog in a home that will be there for him.
