#SpotofShame When I was 13 years old, my face was disfigured because a man threw acid on me at Khan market, New Delhi. It took me eight years to face public again. Through the team at Stop Acid Attacks, I got courage to fight against acid violence in India. Along with other survivors, we brought out various issues of acid violence in front of the nation. We traveled across India and connected with other survivors who suffered like me, protested with families of victims, forced authorities to rehabilitate survivors and their families, challenged authorities and inspired thousands of people to speak out against acid violence. In 2013, for the first time ever we regulated open sale of acid in India. It wouldnt have been possible without the support of thousands of citizens who came together to put pressure on the Government. CNN IBN awarded us with the Indian of the year 2013. This year our team is taking this fight to the streets> through our initiative Spot of Shame. Thats why I launched a support event to continue this fight in 2014.
