.....Star in My Pocket.....(By Mimi Mata) I opened my soul to the world when the sun rose, Half awake; half asleep... A thief in the night with a star in my pocket; For if I stole a piece of twilight, Would I come to understand more of the sunken sun in my eyes? Is this a rhetorical question need not to be asked, From others senselessy trying to find themselves? In a world that no longer takes the time to know punctuation... No gathered reciprocated respect, For the start, slow stop, or finish of things... I showed my stolen star a period, a coma, and a question mark. It sat back in its overly glorified glitter, And asked me a question I did not bother to answer, Then, my somewhat solemn star decided to put together a sentence That made of some sense. Half awake; half asleep, I opened my soul to the night when the moon rose, I gave back my star with its reluctance to please my stupidity, And I came to understand more of the sunken sun in my eyes... And accept the twilight hours we hide in our pockets.
