Stop Common Core in Alabama This is not new. Common Core did not teach kids to turn and talk, to discuss or to work with others. Alabama Reading Initiative taught this for years. Alabama Reading Initiative already had great tools for learning and great ideas for growth. These kids are using application without knowledge. They are being asked to analyze and synthesize too early. The way learning occurs is jumbled and the foundations for knowledge are not being built. When the foundation is not strong, the building crumbles. This math house of cards is falling around kids as evidenced by the parent comments and shares through private messages. The majority of teachers are not convinced this works and are frustrated. When the test roll out this year to see if this works, how many of your children will be so frustrated that they give up? Oh, wait, you ARE opting out of testing!
