#SundayReflections #ArribaLetran #DeusPatriaLetran TODAY IN HISTORY Imagine a church adorned with marble columns, bursting with colors, gold ceilings, marble floors, walls covered with New Testament scenes, a mosaic of Mary and the saints, and a seven-meter high statue of Jesus Christ. This is the Lateran Basilica in Rome. The #DedicationoftheLateranBasilica is celebrated today. The Basilica, built in 324 A.D. is the Mother of all Churches in Rome and in the World. It has been destroyed and rebuilt many times. An ecclesiastical college in the Philippines, was named after the Basilica, #ColegiodeSanJuandeLetran, founded in 1620. It is a Roman Catholic Dominican institution of learning located in historic Intramuros, Manila. The private school, rebuilt in 1958 after being destroyed during WWII in 1945, has the distinction of being the oldest college in the Philippines and the oldest secondary institution in Asia. LIFE MESSAGE #WeNeedToLoveOurChurch and use it. Our Church is the place where we come together as a community to love and praise God. It is the holy place where we gather strength to support one another in the task of living the Gospel. It is the place where we come privately to enter into intimate conversation with God. In this building, many prodigal sons and daughters have met the merciful Lord in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and have been welcomed back to our community. In this building, tears have been shed by those in pain and grief as well as by those in joy. Let us look around our Church and treasure it. When we pass our Church, let us take the time to make a brief visit. Let us make our Church an even more holy place by adding our prayers and songs to community worship and by offering our time and talents in the various ministries. { Very Reverend Father Anthony Kadavil } Sources: Wikipedia, VaticanRadio
