#Swachh GK2 Connectgk2 spent the early hours of one cold Saturday morning at a meeting in E-Block park (Sehgal Market 2, GK2) about turning simple household waste into organic manure. Many residents were present and had brought with them garbage from their homes. The maali at the park had dug a pit for us to dump our wet garbage in to and Mr. Das, an advisor for solid waste management, kindly showed us how easy it was to magically turn useless garbage into safe, organic compost. The benefits of this are numerous. You can use this compost safely in manure for plants and vegetable growing. It is safe for children and pets. Some call compost “black gold”, which is extremely beneficial to plants. An incredible amount of waste that usually gets ‘wasted’ can be usefully used to create something of great benefit. How does composting help GK2? In GK2, we can collect garbage in a common pit and use this compost towards maintenance of our parks or we can even do it individually in our homes. It’s as easy as segregating garbage, collecting, spraying a special non-chemical solution, churning and waiting. In 40-45 days, you will have rich compost that your plants will love you for.
