[TALKING POINT] The World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, - TopicsExpress

[TALKING POINT] The World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, which was to be held in Cape Town from October 13 to 15, has been called off. A total of six of Nobel laureates have pulled out of the event to protest the Dalai Lama visa debacle. South Africa denied Tibets exiled spiritual leader permission to attend the summit to avoid angering China, which regards the Buddhist monk as a campaigner for Tibetan independence. Former President and Nobel Peace Laureate FW De Klerk says the organisors, his foundation and that of Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu tried hard to convince the laureates not to pull out but rather stage their protest here, but that effort failed. He said the blame should be firmly placed on the shoulders of the South African government which he accused of fearing criticism from the conference on matters of constitutionality. Our Talking Point today, what do you make of this?
