#TBT This past Sunday, I had the privilege of opening for Ani DiFranco again. For those who know me, Ani has been the guiding force in my music. When I first heard her at 16 years old, I knew something special had hit me. Her lyrics, her percussive guitar style, her attention to social change...it woke me up, made me want to write my own songs. I always imagined being able to thank her personally and possibly open for her but never knew if/when it would happen. This year, has been magical for me. In January, I interviewed her for OUT Magazine, I toured with her in April and May getting to sing and play with her on stage, and this weekend, perform with her in my hometown at our beautiful, Cains Ballroom. Here are two Ani moments from the stage that melted my heart and remind me just how genuine and special Ani is to the world and will always be to me:).
