#TBT #ThrowBackThursday Heres a behind-the-scenes look at a building with many stories to tell— the Sleeping Bear Inn. Constructed in 1857 in Glen Haven, the inn served as a boarding house for lumberjacks and dock workers. Steamship passengers could also sleep in one of the guest rooms or eat a hot meal. Visitors staying at the inn in 1935 enjoyed thrilling dunesmobile rides for just 25 cents! During WWII, US Army personnel completed some training in the area and were housed at the inn. The Sleeping Bear Inn closed in 1972. Do you plan to visit Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore this summer? Consider joining a ranger for a walking tour of Glen Haven to learn more fascinating tidbits about this historic gem, plus the rest of the village! Check the online Schedule of Events in May or June for dates and times: go.nps.gov/3y3d2x
