There are 3 roles that has been provided in portal 1: TCS IT Services 2: TCS IT infrastructure Services 3: TCS R&D TCS IT services Includes role like developer,Tester,Support etc . Before going deep into the details.. first let me tell u some points u must know ! People with excellent technical and interview skills were not selected ..u know why ? Written main sab bahar ho gaye thee.. The guys who were selected.. they had a good command on all the 3 things ! Written + technical + Hr . 1. Written round ! The basic problem that we all felt was..it was the first company , and we were not much sincere as was needed ! and we had to pay the price . I myself was so much scared that Agar nahi hoga toh kya hoga ..this much that i forgot all the Apti concepts and was shivering there. The basic thing that made me shiver was the timer !! . It was the very first time , i attempted these types of questions so was all mixed up ! This is where practice and a calm mind helps a lot ! . So the things u need to do first .. 1. Tell yourself .. life isnt about getting a job ! and Bas !! No no no ... not at all . U know u may end up in making a company ... So pls do not think of this shit! Its about exploring .. 2. I accept that i wasnt selected .. so ? I have an awsm life still !! this much awesome that i m in my frnds cafeteria , sipping a cup of coffee and designing his social site !! . 3.So keep this in mind ... that though ur parents may be having very high expectations .. but they will for the whole life... Dont Give TCS bcos u have to get a job .. but give it .. bcos it would be fun to have a job at this time . Do it bcos u want to.. not bcos u have to... 4.Timer !! The timer is what sucks with me !! So what u can do... Stress on Quality other than Quantity !!. Do questions and attempt them 3rd thing : For Technical and HR ... I havent given them So m sorry wont be able to help . Tag TCS placed seniors and ask them .. !! U just tag them .. rest i will force them to post .. !! But as to my knowledge... 1. Technical .. !! U have to prepare C language .. they asked on of my frnds logic for bubble sort ! . So u will have to work on C . U will need to have a Basic knowledge of your core subjects .. read them 1 hour a day .. Do not get confused ki kaise itna sab revise karre... Thoda thoda karo.. ! but karro.. !! The best way to do it is .. !! Practice atleast 3-4 questions ( ache waale ) ..on each subject !! and then discuss them ... This will give u an aim to study !! daily !! Suna ki TCS a rahi to apna experience bata de tum logo ko . 1st round:---------- hoga aptitude + writting. Writting ke liye chinta mat karo asan hai vaise aptitude ke liye M4maths aur skillrack ka fb page se question dhun lo. M4maths mein first 20-30 pages will atleast give you 7-8 question similar answer +method to solve try to get both so that u can get the answer for other questions also. And the questions which are in SDP just take help how to solve them from the method told. Chinta mat lo try to do above 15 questions hamra cutoff 14 questions tha shayad so take 17-18 safe for you. 2nd round:- tecnical round hoga uske ke liye Data Structures aur Database The questions asked to me were from Data Structures and Operating System and C i said DS and OS as my fav subject . In DS he asked what is stack and then said some more questions on stack like its use etc after that he asked can we make queue from stack. Now most questions asked were from OS as i tried to roll him in OS so he asked about paging and segmentation difference page hit types of os . Finally he called me beside the laptop and asked me how to do partiton on the OS. In C he asked simple about macros. Then he asked 2 puzzles one related on time and distance and one on hehe i dont remember 2nd one This round has easy questions just go through any book it is done easiest round of all rate ratiye answer dene hai easy question the deep me nahi gaye jyada. 3rd round: Mangerial round he asked what my project is he was not from tech background so i told some sky scrapper terms from project then he asked my father profession and then asked why dont you join our father profession. Again easy same rate ratiye answer dene hai 4th round was HR round : Disaster Round for me. Please take this round seriously please try to learn and by heart everything about TCS here i was not prepared completely for this keep the everything in find when they give presentation a day before seriously. In this initially i had mam there she was asking about me and TCS suddenly a another guy came with a paties and rasgulla and sat beside her and started asking me techincal questions he said are you good at DBMS i said no and then he started asking about database here was nightmare i was able to give 2 answers but not 2 he asked about difference between relational and normal database keys and the codds rule (i was not able tel these ). Then i became nervous and lost my compoure never do this dont become hasty . Now Aptitude round---prepare m4maths-> tcs section....solve as much ques as u can...surely u vl get most of questions repeated from this site...mere time m around 7-8 ques k answer toh aise hi yad the mujhe...n apart from this r.s Agarwal n arun sharma(level 1) is enuf... for all those jinka written clear ho gya ho y na soche interview next day hoga...interview same day started ho jate h n around 10-11 baje tk chlte h...so be prepared for that.. 2. technical round-first thing make your resume accurate(only write those thing in which u r fully comfortable)...prepare atleast one programming language like c or java... For java just clear ur basic concept like class,object,polymorphism,encapsulation,inheritance,abstraction,static block n multithreading with atleast one example.. Preapre one or two ur favourites subject... 3.Mr- pta nhi y round ka kya mtlb h...from my experience its ur next technical round.. The interviewer asked my summer training project in detail..n few more technical question from dbms like super key,candidate key etc Now jin log ke mr clear ho gya y na soche hr is only for formality...tcs rejected most of the candidates from hr last year including me... 3.Hr-just be confident in this round...speak in proper english...n must prepare the following questions- a)why tcs?(for this particular ques ek seminar hgi tcs ki before 1 or 2 days usme around 7-8 point btate h...wo points yad rakhna) b)why u? c)do you know abt company bond? d)any plan for gate or cat?(my suggestion simply say no) e)tcs projects(current and past) Apart from this just visit their website once before interview.... Sorry all and Nishant Singh for being stuck in work so bad that posting so late.So without writing further more Prap ,lets talk some real ship about placements.This might be a long post so Go study for Ur Quizzes first(if tom is monday) or do some assignment or whateva then take time out here.... Starting off with the basic things- 1)Your TCS on Campus drives are a couple of weeks from now.So wat shoud you do?For people who have literally sucked out R.S.Agrawal and Arun Sharma like a hungry vampire, CONGO nd BRAVO but those who were busy making plans and not following (the real engineers ) its time u guys bring out your night study card. No one need to go through each topics of these majestic books.Follow certain topics,which includes -Number system, -Progressions, -Speed nd shit, -boats, -Time and work, -geometry, -P n C and probability. You also need not follow all the topics ,only 85% would do just awesome. I left P n c and probability still written was clear so DO NOT FOCUS ON 100% COURSE COMPLETION BUT ON 100% COMPLETION OF TOPICS OF THE COURSE. Aprt from that I believe if you clear the concepts via R.S.Agrawal u need not go further to Arun sharma. Coz if the concept are clear you can literally take down any problem. Moreover Arun sharma and other books are more of tricks oriented which would not be like a deal breaker to you in TCS(tough in elitmus etc ,you wont even dare to solve the questions if you are not into Arun sharma). Moreover there are certain topics which you MUST cover from any sources(coz R.S. agrawal probably does not cover it).They are like- -calculating no of rectangles in a MxN grid -finding remainder(there are three awesome methods) -syllogism -Finding no of divisors (even odd overall) -finding last two digits -findins last digit...etc So your Aptitude is clear now. Congo ... (Those who have not cleared it click here) 2)Now about TECHNICAL ,all you guys have to do is to clear the basics from Let us C for C people especially topics like array, pointers, call by value and reference, macros , header files. For Java there is a wide range of topics- -Polymorphism, -Encapsulation, -Exceptions, -Threading, -Serialization, -synchronization, -constructors and static non-static blocks...etc but this much will do.(If u are thinking to criticize the list for writing the entire course of java, mail me and ill send you 50 more soo much, important topics of java asked in offCampus drives{u heard right, off campus drives are soul tearing} ). For those who are good at coding,even moderately try conveying it to the interviewer.you will be tested but then again u know u can make it. And also there will be puzzles in the T.R. round.So prod your Sherlock side before entering the room. This much is enough for the T.R. your Technical is clear now.Congo... (Those who have not cleared it click here) 3)Next comes the M.R. round.I swear to baby Jesus,i didnt even knew what that round means (nd still no luck ). But apparently the guy tests ur confidence,ur passion to achieve ur goal ,to get that job. They asked me about my previous semester subjects.Sounds easy? Nope. Apparently When u r sitting on that chair at 10 at night and that question pops up,all you could think of the 15+subjects you have last studied and all comes to mind but the one in the pre sem never pops up. So be prepared for that. Just be confident in every thing u say.If u are in any round but technical, then u speak every answer as if it is true by nature.Be confident. So there it is,time to sit awkwardly with people who arent selected(dont worry u are coming to infosys or Accenture ) but u are so congo. (again ,Those who have not cleared it click here) 4)Now the H.R. round. Now you are thinking the list is narrowed down to 50 from 500.You think u have done it.But wait guys its not 2010 anymore. H.Rs are now meant to bring down the list to 30(in this case and as was in mine). There are no hard tips for HR. Just dont lie,be urself, dress properly, SMILE with a confidence,speak in English (never use a hindi word,the H.R. will give u a choke slam and u will literally choke). You must practice speaking in English infront of your friends.Thanks to Akash Agarwal ,i had one. nd that shud do. So following certain of these rules u will get the permit to sit proudly in ur class the next day onwards. Now as an extra pointer- -The T.R. person is not as technical as you think.You notice the little notepad at their desk? Thats the source of their questions.Believe me in my TCS T.R. the person asked me few of the questions in verbatim from the sites.So go through them twice. -SMILE is your best asset.Be Professional in sitting,speaking,hand shaking(yes u should do that-a very underestimated gesture but a deal breaker),whishing etc. -Within your whole process of interviews do not speak in hindi.They would embrace broken lanuage then mixed language . -Carry a Deo with urself (coz u r brown ). By Er Shreya Bhansali Hello ppl out here..Just to say to all my juniors that dont get dependent on campus placements(Specifically for SRMCEM)..I just have felt that there is no fixed rule for any company when it comes to selection of people. Kuchh bhi hota hai placement mein, koi bhi kabhi bhi select ho jata hai (Its all random, anyone gets placed anytime..) For example in an interview of a company, one candidate is asked full technical questions and the next one is asked about the movies releasing next week...And bang when the result is out the guy who answered which movie is going to be released next week gets selected. I am not mocking at the selectors nor I am saying that u should not be technically sound but just to explain u how random and unpredictable it goes.. So just focus yourself on securing good percentile in elitmus and AMCAT exams and just brush up your technical and analytical skills..This is what my lil experience says.. Im sure u get what is being tried to convey! ********************************************************************************************** 8th . By Shruti Yadav A very important factor during interviews is your communication power. Each company is looking for excellent communication skills. This cant be done just two days before the interview, hence a regular practice is required. Do not hesitate in correcting your friends grammar. This will help him/her afterwards. Pallav Joshi sir Let me give an advice on career rather on life. Its good to crack TCS / CAT/ SSC , but its IMPORTANT to know about your aspirations as early as possible. GREAT people know WHAT they WANT from life since childhood. Sachin Tendulkar Sir didnt wait to complete high school for playing cricket. And the truth be told, WHO GIVES A SHIT about his education??? Since you guys would be out of the college very soon so its high time. Choose your career wisely. Follow your passion , if you dont choose a career in your passion , at least choose a career along with which you can pursue your passion. HOW would be the question? 1. Read . Specially about your idols. What makes them great. Say what are the traits your idol had / have . Some of them are .Honesty .Hard work .Skill set .Focus .Clarity of goals .DECISION making skills. 2. Introspection : Listen to your inner self. Meditation will definitely help. 3. Work DAILY on your skills. In the first lecture of physics BMD Sir said ek din mein tum duniya nahin palat doge. Just like YOU , I smiled at his statement. But it is damn true. If you really want to be GREAT at something, work upon it DAILY. Its good to know about TCS etc...but NECESSARY to know about your self This is all from my end. Feel free to share anything that you learned of a similar sort. Cant say that that it applies to all interviews of other product based companies or not. Interviewer judges you, to crack an interview you must judge your interviewer. After all he is also a person with limited ability like you. Never give them a chance to direct an interview according to them. Keep the ball always in your court by engaging them in a topic in which you are an expert. Normally interviewer are of three types.. 1. Intelligent with an ability to give a stress. 2. Stupid with no knowledge as such but just by chance they are on the other side of the table. 3. Intelligent but very cool and doesnt give you a stress. Its easy to deal with the the third kind. Problem comes when either the first and second type is taking your interview. If you are able to identify that interviewer is 2nd type. Just be confident and answer every question. He dont have ability to analyze the correctness of your answer only thing that he analyze is your confidence. So even you are not sure just give the the answer with confidence. If you face the 1st type of interviewer, a simple advice dont act over smart in front of them. Be precise in your answers dont speak technical terms in your answers that you dont know because the next question is surely going to come from the answer you just spoke off. As far as I know TCS have 2nd type of interviewer more. So just relax and if you are from non CS background turn this thing to your strength not as a weakness. Never ever mention anything like digital electronics, computer architecture as your favourite subjects. ********************************************************************************************** 11th .
