In the EU from 2012 In the USA from July 14, 2014 Its not as bad as you think, the smaller diameter T8 tubes will fit the same G13 socket and although the power rating is marginally down, the better colour spectrum output is improved from a move from a simple halophosphate to three colour phosphor tube version.
