***THE LAST TRUE GENTLEMAN*** Please read... It was almost 5 years ago...Very much new to the scene and completely awe-struck, I was introduced to this very tall, smiling, older American man with an authentic Southern Drawl. He spent quite some time talking to me about music, singing and how Id chosen a great line of work and that its a real gift to be able to do what we do. We finished our conversation by him giving me his contact details and telling me that if I ever make it out to Nashville to give him a call and hed be happy to show me around. At that point, I was called by Pio McCann to make my way to the stage. As I left, I told him it was an honour to meet him. He shook his head earnestly, shook my hand and said The honour was mine son. Youre parents must be real proud. You go have a good one and god bless ya. Prior to that conversation I had been so nervous but I walked to that stage on a cushion of air and had one of the best shows of my life. I can remember clearly during my show looking to my left and sure enough, there he was, standing alongside my dad at the side of the stage smiling and clapping. He gave me a thumbs up! He may have had no idea (or maybe he did), but our conversation was exactly the nudge of encouragement I needed at the time...A God Send in some way. Throughout his lifetime, Im sure many stories like this have emerged and he was known as one of the last true gentlemen in country music. I can testify to that and our encounter is one Ill never forget. God has taken one his best back today. RIP George Hamilton IV
