~~~ THE SILOAM POOL ~~~ * * * Uncovered by archaeologists in 2004, the ancient stepped Siloam Pool, where Jesus is recorded as Healing the man born blind, was found in the City of David, Bethlehem * * * --- Long believed to have been located elsewhere, the highly advanced infrastructure, which provided fresh drinking-water, toilets and a vast sewerage system, can still be clearly made out --- Having lived in Jordan, I have visited such sites as this, only recently rediscovered. Roman homes, roads, beautifully-decorated mosaic floors, churches dating back 1800 years which are still in use at the present-day. Such excavations were still underway when I lived there, [ largely coordinated by German, French and Canadian archaeologists ]. The current political situation, has, naturally, largely not only brought these projects to a halt, but the fanatical islamist desire to destroy all evidence of pre-islamic culture and civilisation has robbed us forever of the marvellous ancient pre-Christian pagan ruins at Babylon, as well as the 3,000 year-old City Walls, Shrines and Tombs of the Hebraic prophets.
