* TODAYS ROSARY * Friday 23 January 2015 The Sorrowful Mysteries 1. The Prayer and Agony in the Garden. 2. The Scourging at the Pillar. 3. The Crowning with Thorns. 4. The Carrying of the Cross. 5. The Crucifixion and Death of the Lord. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Queen of the Holy Rosary, you came to Fatima to reveal to the three shepherd children the treasures of grace hidden in the Rosary. Inspire my heart with a sincere love of this devotion, in order that by meditating on the Mysteries of our Redemption which are recalled in it, I may obtain peace for the world, the conversion of sinners, and the favour which I ask of you in this Rosary (Mention your request). I ask it for the greater glory of God, for your own honour, and for the good of souls, especially for my own. I offer this Rosary for the purpose of knowing the Truth and obtaining contrition and pardon for my sins. Amen. With Mary, we will understand better the transforming power of the Eucharist. By listening to Mary, we will find in the Eucharist mystery the courage and energy to follow Christ, the good shepherd and to serve him as his people. The Rosary, while Marian in character, is a prayer with Christ at its centre. It contains all the depth of the Gospel message in its entirety. With the Rosary, we sit at the school of Mary and are led to contemplate the beauty of Christ and experience, in a profound way, the depths of his love. To recite the Rosary is nothing other than to contemplate the face of Jesus with Mary as our companion and teacher. Our faith tells us that Christ is really present today as he was 2000+ years ago with his Mother and disciples. What better way, therefore, to get to know our Lord, than saying the Rosary and meditating on his life Todays rosary prayers are the Sorrowful Mysteries: Christs agony in the garden (Luke 22:39-44) Intention: That we may be each granted a humble heart and a contrite Spirit Prayer: Lord Jesus, grant to each of us a Spirit of true contrition; and so washing away our sins by your precious blood. Amen His scourging (Matt. 27:26) Intention: That we may be always aware of our sins and their consequences Prayer: Lord Jesus, may we always be grateful for how much you suffered for our sins. Amen His being crowned with thorns (Matt. 27:28-31) Intention: That we may grow in reverence for the Blessed Sacrament Prayer: Lord Jesus, we believe; help us in our unbelief. May we worship you in sincerity and truth. Amen Christ carrying the cross (Luke 23:26-32) Intention: That we may be patient in tribulation Prayer: Lord Jesus, we lay our burdens at your feet, knowing that you have already paid the price for our sins. May we each help our brothers and sisters in their time of need. Amen His crucifixion and death (Matt. 27:33-50) Intention: That we may love God above all other things and our neighbour as ourselves. Prayer: Lord Jesus, may the mystery we celebrate in the most Holy Eucharist bring us into an ever closer relationship with you and with our brothers and sisters. Amen Let us pray: O God, whose only begotten Son, by his life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we beseech you, that meditating on these mysteries of the most Holy Rosary of the Blessed virgin Mary, we may both imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through Christ our Lord. Amen
