*****TUESDAY EVENING JANUARY 20TH 2015***** HEADLINE(S): 1) A Clipper is heading our way for the midweek period. Not a major event, however, it could disrupt the Wednesday evening commute and/or the Thursday morning commute. It is complicated and one that can EASILY become a BUSTED forecast for many outlets. 2) RUMORS OF A MAJOR STORM POSSIBILITY FOR SATURDAY ARE TRUE! (in case you happen to have heard any) The possibilities range from a light bit of snow to a major snowstorm to a mixed bag of snow, sleet, and rain. Timing seems to be zeroed in on SATURDAY INTO SATURDAY NIGHT. 3) Yes there is another possible storm running behind this one for early next week. That one would be all snow, but right now chances seem better that it will move off shore and just skirt. HOWEVER plenty of time to watch. The NRG for this system is still way out in the north Pacific somewhere close to Aleutians. 4) FINALLY-ABSOLUTELY NO SIGN OF THE JANUARY THAW....where the heck is it? ACTUALLY THERE ARE STRONG SIGNALS THAT AS WE HEAD TOWARDS THE END OF JANUARY AND EARLY FEBRUARY ARCTIC COLD RE-ENTERS THE PICTURE..... HERE WE GO-FORECAST FOR NEXT FEW DAYS: TONIGHT-Clear and VERY cold. Low temperature will bottom out between 10-15 in the burbs to low 20s in the city. WEDNESDAY- Increasing and thickening clouds w/a chance of light snow overspreading New Jersey into parts of NYC during the afternoon. Cold continues 30-35. WEDNESDAY NIGHT-Cloudy w/periods of light snow especially early on for coastal areas. Later on spreading towards inland suburbia. *****ACCUMULATION IS LIKELY IN MANY AREAS....I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE AFTERNOON COMMUTE FOR NEW JERSEY ESPECIALLY***** (THERE WILL BE AN ACCUMULATION MAP LATER TONIGHT INTO THE WEE HOURS....IF IT BECOMES NECESSARY) THURSDAY-Inland areas can expect some light snow Thursday morning which could create some issues w/the commute. THURSDAY should be dry near the coast....Cold continues. FRIDAY-Partly to mostly sunny and cold 30-35. SATURDAY- SNOW OR MIXED SNOW AND SLEET WATCH IS HOISTED........This needs to be watched! IMAGES: 1) THE EURO 10 DAY TEMPERATURE AND PRECIP AMT GRID....2) EURO MODEL DEPICTING THE SNOW SHIELD MOVING IN FROM THE SW TOMORROW AFTERNOON. 3) STORM JUST OFF THE COAST...HOW FAR OFF THE COAST WILL IT BE?????
