Teaching English Volunteer program in Nepal Teaching English Volunteer Program in Nepal is an enjoyable and satisfying experience where the volunteers get the opportunity to teach the students who eager to improve their conversational English skills. Volunteers work primarily as instructors of English either in Nepali public or private schools Volunteers may also be asked to assist in other school activities such as sports and other extra-curricular projects. You will be teaching either in public or private schools in rural and urban location. As a volunteer in Teaching English Program, you will be teaching English subject to school children for 2 to 4 periods of a day, each period goes for 45 minutes. Volunteer will be teaching 6 days a week Saturday is day off and there are some public holidays. Most of the school children in private school have good command of English but still they may need more practice. Whereas government school children have moderate or beginners level English knowledge. Depending on school size children’s number in a class from private school could be expected 15 to 25. But in government schools in lowland areas there can be more than 50 kids in a class whereas in a hilly and mountainous location there would be less than 15. In urban location first week local teacher will assist you to conduct class and solve any language barrier if it appears during teaching. When the children become familiar with you, you will then be able to run class independently. All private and public school have curriculum, you can either follow Nepali curriculum or you can apply your own skill. If you have any additional skills in extra curricula activities like teaching games, music, painting, singing, dancing, yoga martial arts etc then you are most welcome and encouraged to apply these skills.
