#Tech_post #must_read What is a stealth aircraft? common question...but answer is not too easy!!! my opinion... Stealthity means to avoid detection... yes... currently, we have 4 options to detect an aircraft... 1.Radar 2.IR sensor 3.visual and 4.Audio... a jet which can avoid all four of them is said to be stealth jet. 1.Radar- detection of jet by radar is common and popular method...to avoid radar, generally jets have a typical design with RAM (radar absorbing material) coating or plasma coating...it reduces radar reflection so that enemy radar cant get a clear image untill it is too close to the radar... 2.IR (Infra red) sensor- heat is produced by engines and frictions of surface of jet with air in high speed...this heat is picked up by IR sensors (FLIR/IRST)... so to become stealth a jet must produce less heat from engine.... there are several measures for that...like extensive cooling of engine, aerodynamic design change of air inlet etc...still every jet produce a descend amount of heat to be detected by IR sensor. 3.Visual- a jet can be detect visually....to avoid visual detection jets are coloured in different camouflage... mainly in light grey or light blue... 4.Audio- a jet can be detected by the noise produce by it... it is a difficult job to mute a flying jet!!! so, it is nearly impossible to make a jet with 0 rcs, 0 IR dispersion, invisible and mute... so, Stealthity is nothing but a relative term!!!
